Lei Jun, founder and CEO of China’s tech giant Xiaomi, announced his commitment to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into everyday products, aiming to enhance consumers’ lives through technology. Speaking to the media at the Deputies’ Corridor before the opening of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), Lei emphasized the company’s dedication to sci-tech innovation and high-quality development.
“We are committed to the path of sci-tech innovation and high-quality development, fostering new quality productive forces by integrating the latest AI technology into various end products and enabling consumers to experience the wonderful life brought by technology,” said Lei, who is also an NPC deputy.
Founded 15 years ago, Xiaomi has rapidly grown to become one of the world’s top smartphone companies, selling 170 million units in 2024, according to Lei. Expanding beyond smartphones, Xiaomi ventured into the automotive industry last year. Its SU7 model boasts performance that surpasses some of the world’s top race cars at only a third of their price.
Prior to the launch of Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra last week, luxury car manufacturer Porsche praised the SU7 Ultra for breaking the Shanghai Circuit lap record in a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Lei Jun also attended a recent symposium on China’s private enterprises, highlighting his active role in shaping the future of technology and business in the country.
