From ancient relics to breathtaking landscapes, China boasts 59 UNESCO World Heritage Sites that tell the story of its rich history and culture. Now, a new photo exhibition titled “The Memory of Mankind” is bringing these sites to life through the lenses of talented Chinese photographers.
Featuring over 150 captivating images, the exhibition takes viewers on a visual journey across China’s most treasured landmarks. Highlights include recent additions like Beijing’s Central Axis—a historical north-south line running through the heart of the capital—that was recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Zhou Meisheng, the curator of the exhibition, emphasizes the crucial role photographers play in preserving these sites for future generations. “Photographers use their lenses and the universal language of visual imagery to present heritage in the most impactful way,” Zhou shared.
“The Memory of Mankind” is currently on tour across China and will be visiting Anhui, Sichuan, Zhejiang, and Guangdong provinces in the coming months. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity for audiences, especially young people, to connect with China’s diverse heritage and appreciate the importance of cultural preservation.
