Mainland University Delegation Visits Cultural Sites in Taiwan Region

Mainland University Delegation Explores Taiwan’s Cultural Heritage

Students and teachers from seven top mainland universities are exploring Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage this week. On Thursday, they delved into centuries-old traditions and connected with local students, all in a bid to strengthen cultural ties.

The delegation visited the Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum, a beautifully preserved southern-Fujian-style courtyard that’s over 200 years old. Now a hub for traditional folk culture, the museum offers hands-on experiences like first-birthday grab ceremonies and arts and crafts classes.

“We witnessed key moments from traditional Chinese rituals,” shared Peng Yihang, a Tsinghua University student. “This place isn’t just about learning; it’s about preserving our shared heritage.”

They also explored the Taipei Confucius Temple, where they immersed themselves in Confucian rituals and learned about ancient ceremonial instruments. Later, they engaged in lively exchange activities at a local university, making new friends and sharing experiences.

Invited by the Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, the delegation includes representatives from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, Fujian Normal University, and Beijing Sport University.
