China is paving the way to better lives—literally. On November 29, China’s State Council Information Office released a white paper titled ‘China’s Rural Roads in the New Era.’ The report highlights how China has been building roads to connect remote villages and towns, transforming the lives of millions.
Over the past decade, more than 1,100 townships and 45,000 villages have been linked to the rural transport network. This means that nearly every township and village now has access to bus services. The old saying goes, ‘If you want to become better off, build a road,’ and China is showing how true this can be.
By improving roads and transportation, people in rural areas can travel more easily, access schools, hospitals, markets, and opportunities that were once out of reach. The new roads are making a real difference, helping to lift communities out of poverty and into a brighter future.
