During this year’s Spring Festival, the Fanjing Mountain in southwest China’s Guizhou Province opened its golden snub-nosed monkey research center to the public for the first time, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe these endangered primates up close.
The Guizhou golden snub-nosed monkey, a critically endangered species and a first-class nationally protected animal in China, is often referred to as the “only child of the Earth.” These unique monkeys are found exclusively in the Fanjing Mountain National Nature Reserve, making the research center a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts.
Visitors to the center can learn about the monkeys’ habits and behaviors through guided educational sessions. “We are open to the public at designated times throughout the Spring Festival holiday until the upcoming Lantern Festival,” said Zhao Jing, a staff member at the center. “A dedicated guide has been arranged to provide educational sessions on the monkeys’ living habits.”
In addition to observing the golden snub-nosed monkeys, guests can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of the New Year celebrations at Fanjing Mountain, capturing memorable moments with themed displays and enjoying the natural beauty of the region.
The opening of the research center not only enhances public awareness about the conservation of endangered species but also adds a unique attraction for visitors during the holiday season.
