The ancient city of Xi’an recently hosted “China Travel With Chinese Films @Xi’an,” a cultural exchange event that brought together around 30 overseas youth, including a visiting French student group and international students studying in the city.
Jointly organized by China Global Television Network (CGTN), the Shaanxi Bureau of China Media Group (CMG), and Xiying Group, the event offered participants a unique opportunity to delve into Chinese cinema and culture.
Participants explored an exhibition of Chinese and foreign film posters at Xiying Group’s park, learning about the stories behind China’s first international film award and the highest accolades in Chinese cinema. They watched trailers for upcoming films like Ne Zha 2, Detective Chinatown 1900, and Creation of the Gods 2, and even interacted with an actress dressed as Shiji Niangniang from Ne Zha 2.
The group toured Xiying Group’s film museum, experienced special effects production suites, and shared their insights on Chinese movies. The immersive experience continued at “The Longest Day in Chang’an Theme Block,” where they watched performances in a Tang dynasty-style setting, tried their hands at intangible cultural heritage activities like sugar painting and lacquer fan making, and enjoyed a hanfu show.
Many participants shared their first impressions of China, expressing excitement about living and studying in the country. “China Travel With Chinese Films @Xi’an” is the first Chinese film-themed tourism tour designed for overseas visitors, offering a fresh way to connect with Chinese films, taste local cuisine, and embrace the rich culture.
