Chinese Films Ignite Tourism Boom in Xi’an

The ancient city of Xi’an is experiencing a surge in international tourism, thanks to the global success of Chinese cinema. Recent releases of Chinese films overseas have not only captivated audiences worldwide but also kindled a newfound interest in exploring China’s rich cultural heritage.

On February 27, the China Film Administration and China Media Group launched the “China Travel with Chinese Films” campaign in Xi’an. This initiative aims to promote Chinese culture and tourism by connecting film enthusiasts with the iconic locations featured in popular movies.

“Seeing the breathtaking landscapes and historic sites in these films inspired me to visit Xi’an,” said Maria, a tourist from Brazil. “It’s incredible to walk through the same streets I’ve seen on the big screen.”

The campaign has attracted visitors from around the globe, offering them immersive experiences such as guided tours of famous filming locations, cultural workshops, and interactive events with filmmakers.

Local businesses are embracing the influx of tourists. “We’ve seen a significant increase in customers since the campaign started,” noted Li Wei, owner of a traditional teahouse near the city’s ancient wall. “It’s a great opportunity to share our heritage with the world.”

With its blend of historical significance and modern vibrancy, Xi’an stands as a testament to China’s rich past and dynamic present. The success of “China Travel with Chinese Films” highlights the powerful role of cinema in bridging cultures and fostering international connections.
