Tour of Hainan 2023: Cyclists Speed Through China’s Tropical Paradise

The 16th edition of the Tour of Hainan International Road Cycling Race kicked off on Monday in Qionghai City, south China’s Hainan Province. More than 140 cyclists from 20 international teams have gathered to compete in this prestigious event.

This year’s race spans five stages, covering the cities of Qionghai, Wanning, Lingshui, and Sanya. From August 7 to 11, riders will navigate two of Hainan’s most iconic tourism routes: the round-the-island tourist highway and the ring road encircling the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park.

Founded in 2006, the Tour of Hainan has evolved into one of Asia’s most influential road cycling races. Not only does it showcase high-level competition, but it also offers a window into Hainan’s unique tropical scenery and rich tourism resources.

As cyclists speed through lush rainforests and along pristine coastlines, spectators are treated to breathtaking views of China’s southern paradise. The event highlights Hainan’s commitment to promoting sports tourism and fostering international exchange through athletics.
