This year’s APEC summit is particularly noteworthy as it is the third time Peru has hosted the event, following successful gatherings in 2008 and 2016. President Boluarte expressed optimism, stating that the summit will “showcase Peru’s commitment to peace and its status as a reliable global trade partner.”
The visit underscores the growing economic and trade relations between China and Latin America. Alvaro Martin Montalvo Tena, management assistant at the Chancay Megaport, shared insights on how the port will serve as a gateway between Asia and Latin America, boosting economic growth and creating new opportunities. Zhao Lihong, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, discussed the cultural ties strengthening the partnership between the two regions.
