Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the Macao Special Administrative Region on Wednesday to participate in celebrations marking the anniversary of Macao’s return to China.

The visit underscores the central government’s commitment to the prosperity and stability of Macao, which has flourished under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework since its handover in 1999.

During his stay, President Xi is expected to attend various ceremonies and meet with local officials to discuss the region’s ongoing development and integration with mainland China.

“Macao has achieved remarkable progress over the past years,” said a spokesperson for the Macao government. “We are honored to welcome President Xi as we celebrate our achievements and look forward to a bright future.”
