China and UK Renew Economic Talks: Han Zheng Meets Rachel Reeves

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with UK Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves in Beijing on Saturday, marking the resumption of the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue after nearly six years.

“China and the UK are both major economies and financial heavyweights,” Han said. “Strengthening economic and financial cooperation is significant for promoting growth, improving people’s lives, and encouraging green development in both countries.”

Han emphasized China’s willingness to expand openness and exchanges with the UK, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and trust. He expressed hope for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation to bring more benefits to both nations and the world.

Reeves noted the importance of the dialogue’s resumption after such a long hiatus. “The British side attaches great importance to developing relations with China,” she said. “We are willing to strengthen candid dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation to promote the economic development of each country.”

The 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue signals a renewed commitment between the two nations to collaborate on economic and financial matters, with a focus on shared growth and sustainability.
