Experts Decode China’s Economic Future at Global Forum

China’s economic future is under the spotlight as leading experts convened to discuss its recent stimulus package and long-term growth strategies. In a panel titled “Decoding China’s Economy: Present and Future,” moderated by CGTN’s Tian Wei and jointly organized by CGTN and the World Economic Forum, top minds in economics shared their insights on how the Chinese mainland can balance immediate fiscal stimulus with forward-looking industrial policies.

Bonnie Chan, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, highlighted the potential of mobilizing “new quality productive forces” in targeted future industries. She emphasized that this approach could fuel sustainable growth and enhance economic performance.

Zhu Min, a member of the Senior Expert Advisory Committee at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, discussed the significance of aligning short-term measures with long-term objectives. He pointed out that strategic investments in innovation and technology are key to maintaining momentum in the global economy.

Michael Süss, Executive Chairman of Oerlikon, shared his perspective on international cooperation and its role in driving economic advancement. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the Chinese mainland and global partners to achieve mutual growth.

Hou Qijun, Director and President of China National Petroleum Corporation, delved into the energy sector’s contribution to economic development. He noted that advancements in energy technology and sustainable practices are crucial for future prosperity.
