Nightclub Blaze in North Macedonia Leaves at Least 51 Dead

A devastating fire tore through a crowded nightclub in Kocani, North Macedonia, on Sunday, claiming the lives of at least 51 people and injuring more than 100 others, according to local media reports.

The state-run Media Information Agency reported that approximately 1,500 concertgoers were inside the venue when the fire broke out. Witnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as the blaze rapidly engulfed the building, spreading swiftly to the ceiling and roof.

“It all happened so fast,” one survivor recounted. “Flames were everywhere, and people were scrambling to find exits.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene, battling the inferno and assisting in evacuations. Authorities are still working to determine the total number of casualties and the cause of the fire.

Local officials have declared a period of national mourning. “Our hearts go out to the victims and their families,” a government spokesperson said. “We are committed to providing support and conducting a thorough investigation.”

The tragedy has raised concerns about safety standards at entertainment venues in the region. Many are calling for stricter regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
