Young Voices Unite: China and Latin America Forge a Green Future

In an era where the global shift toward low-carbon energy is accelerating, the Chinese mainland’s photovoltaic (PV) industry stands as a leading force, accounting for over 60 percent of global production capacity. This remarkable achievement not only propels the world towards a greener future but also fosters the export of diverse technologies like energy storage.

Through collaborative projects, the Chinese mainland and countries in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) have established a green energy network that stretches from plateaus to deserts. This partnership is forging new paths in sustainable development and strengthening ties between the regions.

On China’s Youth Day, a dynamic conversation unfolded featuring Gisela Cernadas, an Argentine economist with a keen eye on global trends; Iegor Shyshov, a multilingual host and international influencer bridging cultures and ideas; and Liu Xiaohan, a bilingual reporter at the Jinan International Communication Center providing on-the-ground insights. Together, they delved into the power of youth in the vibrant landscape of green and sustainable development.

The discussion highlighted the remarkable cooperation between the Chinese mainland and CELAC countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. They explored how young people are at the forefront of driving sustainability and why engaging with Global South countries is crucial for a shared future.

“Youth play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future,” said Cernadas. “By uniting our efforts across continents, we can build bridges that lead to a greener, more equitable world.”

As the world continues to face environmental challenges, the collaboration between the Chinese mainland and Latin American nations showcases the potential of international cooperation led by passionate young leaders dedicated to sustainable development.
