Global Journalists Explore SCO Spirit in Tianjin

Journalists from around the world have gathered in Tianjin to explore the spirit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and witness the city’s rapid development firsthand. As part of the “China Year” of the SCO, China, serving as the rotating chair, has launched over 100 activities covering political, security, economic, and cultural fields.

CGTN reporter Zhang Zhenni led a team of international media partners on a field research journey through Tianjin. Among the participants were Shahrokh Saei, editor of the Tehran Times; Wes Cabangon, operations advisor and journalist from the Business Mirror; and Borinika Sopharin Em, news presenter and TV documentary producer from TVK Cambodia.

The group explored Tianjin’s landmarks along the Haihe River, where the 2025 SCO Summit is set to take place. Leaders from member states will gather here to build consensus on future cooperation, highlighting the city’s importance in the region.

“Tianjin showcases a blend of tradition and modernity,” said Saei. “The city’s development is a testament to the collaborative spirit promoted by the SCO.”

Cabangon highlighted the opportunities for economic cooperation. “Seeing Tianjin’s advancements opens doors for understanding how SCO member states can work together for mutual growth,” he remarked.

Em was impressed by the cultural exchange. “The SCO spirit is about bringing people together,” she said. “Our journey in Tianjin reflects the unity and shared aspirations of our countries.”

Their insights shed light on the SCO’s role in fostering international cooperation and the significant progress made by Tianjin as a host city.
