The rise of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the global job market, particularly impacting entry-level positions. As AI continues to evolve, many young people find themselves uncertain about their future career paths.
At the 2025 Summer Davos Forum, a special session titled “Career Pathways: Rewired” brought together experts to discuss these pressing issues. CGTN’s Guan Xin moderated the discussion with Zhang Dandan, professor and deputy dean at the National School of Development at Peking University; Rahul Attuluri, co-founder and CEO of NxtWave; and Georgina Mondino, head of the Rosario Hub of the Global Shapers Community.
“AI is not just replacing jobs; it’s creating new ones we couldn’t have imagined before,” Zhang Dandan explained. She emphasized the importance of adapting education systems to prepare young people for the changing landscape.
Rahul Attuluri highlighted the potential for AI to open doors for youth in the Global South. “With the right skills, young people can leverage AI to solve local problems and even create global solutions,” he said.
Georgina Mondino encouraged youths to embrace lifelong learning. “Flexibility and a willingness to learn are key. Young people should see AI as a tool that can enhance their capabilities, not just as a threat,” she advised.
The panelists agreed that while AI poses challenges, it also offers unprecedented opportunities. By equipping themselves with new skills and embracing innovation, young people can navigate the AI-driven job market and build fulfilling careers.
