On July 16, the “Green Consumption and Sustainable Development” thematic forum of the 2025 World Youth Development Forum brought together over 150 experts, scholars, and young entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries. These young innovators, all active in the green sector, gathered to share experiences and engage in interactive exchanges on cutting-edge topics like “AI + green consumption” and the latest trends in youth consumption.
“By combining artificial intelligence with green consumption, we can create innovative solutions to combat environmental challenges,” said Lin Mei, a young entrepreneur from the Chinese mainland. “Youth play a crucial role in driving sustainable development.”
The forum delved into how AI can revolutionize eco-friendly practices, introducing new scenarios and formats that resonate with young consumers. Participants explored ways to leverage technology to promote sustainability, from smart recycling systems to AI-driven platforms that encourage environmentally conscious purchasing habits.
With youth exchanges as a bond, the event emphasized global collaboration. Attendees shared success stories and strategies from their respective countries, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. “It’s inspiring to connect with peers from around the world who are equally passionate about sustainability,” said Ahmed Khan, a sustainability advocate from Pakistan.
The forum also highlighted the Global Development Initiative, encouraging young leaders to actively engage in green consumption practices and sustainable actions. By uniting their efforts, these youth leaders aim to make a tangible impact on their communities and the planet.
“As young people, we have the power and responsibility to shape a greener future,” said Maria Silva, an environmental scientist from Brazil. “Together, we can drive change and inspire others to join us in sustainable living.”
