Spain Germany to Take Part in Dhl Plane Crash Investigation

Germany, Spain Team Up with Lithuania to Investigate DHL Plane Crash

A tragic DHL plane crash in Vilnius, Lithuania, has sparked an international investigation involving Germany and Spain. The cargo plane, a Boeing 737-476 (SF) operated by Spanish airline Swift Air, crashed into a residential building near Vilnius airport, resulting in the death of a pilot and injuries to three others.

Laurynas Naujokaitis, director of the Lithuanian Justice Ministry’s Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Division, announced that German safety authorities have appointed four investigators who are en route to Lithuania. Spain is also sending two experts to assist in the inquiry.

“The investigation will focus solely on aviation safety,” Naujokaitis emphasized, noting that the probe could take at least a year to complete. The U.S. aviation administration has been informed of the crash since the aircraft was manufactured in the United States.

The DHL plane was flying from Leipzig, Germany, on behalf of the German shipping company when the accident occurred. The collaboration between Lithuania, Germany, and Spain aims to uncover the causes of the crash and to enhance aviation safety.
