Six Turkish soldiers lost their lives on Monday when two military helicopters collided during a training exercise in southwestern Isparta province, officials reported.

Provincial governor Abdullah Erin stated, “Two helicopters collided during a training flight and one of them crashed,” during an interview with public broadcaster TRT Haber. The second helicopter managed to land safely, and no details have been released regarding the cause of the collision.

Initially, authorities reported five fatalities, but the death toll was later raised to six after one of the wounded soldiers succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The defense ministry expressed deep condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.

An investigation is underway to determine the factors that led to this tragic accident. The incident highlights the inherent risks of military training exercises and has prompted discussions on safety protocols.
