Moscow, Russia — Russian forces have regained control of the settlement of Novoivanovka in the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian forces had seized a portion of territory in the Kursk region after crossing the border on August 6. Since then, Russian troops have been engaged in operations to expel them.
“Our forces have successfully retaken Novoivanovka and are continuing efforts to secure the area,” a ministry spokesperson said.
The Kursk region, which borders northeastern Ukraine, has experienced increased military activity amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Local residents have reported disturbances in the area, with authorities urging civilians to remain cautious and stay informed through official channels.
The situation in the border regions remains fluid, with both sides reporting engagements in various sectors.
