Six Dead in Ukrainian Missile Strike on Russia’s Kursk Region

Six people have been killed and ten injured after a Ukrainian missile attack on the town of Rylsk in Russia’s Kursk region, according to acting governor Alexander Khinshtein.

The attack occurred on Friday morning when Ukraine launched a large-scale missile assault on Rylsk, Khinshtein stated on Telegram. “Rescuers, firefighters, and emergency services are working at the scene, though their efforts are disrupted by continued strikes from Ukrainian forces,” he said.

Several U.S.-made HIMARS missiles were reportedly shot down by Russian air defense forces during the attack, Khinshtein added.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has intensified in recent months, with border regions like Kursk experiencing increased military activity. The latest strike highlights the escalating tensions and the impact on civilians in the affected areas.

Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and follow safety guidelines as emergency services manage the aftermath of the attack.
