Russia Declares Federal Emergency over Black Sea Oil Spill

Russia Declares Federal Emergency After Black Sea Oil Spill

Russia has declared a federal emergency following a massive oil spill in the Black Sea caused by two Russian tankers, according to the Emergencies Ministry. The incident occurred on December 15 when a storm hit the vessels, causing one to split in half and the other to run aground.

The resulting spill has coated the sandy beaches of Anapa, a popular resort town, leading to serious environmental concerns. Wildlife, including seabirds, dolphins, and porpoises, have been seriously affected by the pollution.

More than 10,000 people have been mobilized to aid in the cleanup efforts, working tirelessly to restore the coastline and protect the marine ecosystem.
