In a tragic accident in northern Norway, three people lost their lives and four others were seriously injured when a bus veered off the highway and partially plunged into a lake on Thursday, according to local authorities.
“The bus is partially underwater. So far, three fatalities have been confirmed, and four people are seriously injured,” said Bent Are Eilertsen, chief of staff at the Nordland Police District. “Emergency services have evacuated everyone from the bus.”
The accident occurred near Raftsundet in the Lofoten archipelago, a renowned tourist destination famous for its stunning landscapes. Emergency responders faced challenging conditions at the site, including adverse weather that hampered helicopter operations.
