North Korea Appoints Pak Thae Song as New Premier in Major Leadership Shake-Up
In a significant government reshuffle, North Korea has appointed Pak Thae Song as the country’s new premier, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The decision was made during a key meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) held in Pyongyang from December 23 to 27.
The Enlarged Meeting of the Eleventh Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK saw several important personnel changes. Pak Thae Song was also elected as a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, elevating his status within the party’s leadership.
In addition to Pak’s appointment, Choe Son Hui, North Korea’s foreign minister, was elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee. These changes indicate a possible shift in the nation’s domestic and foreign policies as new leaders take prominent roles.
The leadership shake-up comes at a time when North Korea faces various challenges, including economic issues and international relations. Observers are watching closely to see how these new appointments might influence the country’s direction in the coming years.
