The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has welcomed its first group of ultra-Orthodox soldiers into the newly formed Hasmonean Brigade. The initial 50 recruits were drafted for regular service, marking a significant milestone in integrating the ultra-Orthodox community into Israel’s military ranks.
According to an IDF statement released on Sunday, approximately 100 additional ultra-Orthodox individuals will join the brigade’s first reserves company after completing an intensive six-month training program. The Hasmonean Brigade aims to accommodate the unique religious needs of the ultra-Orthodox while enabling them to contribute to national defense.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bridge societal gaps and encourage greater participation from all segments of Israeli society. The integration of the ultra-Orthodox community into the IDF is seen as a step toward unity and shared responsibility.
