Us Issues New Sudan related Sanctions Targets Rsf Leader

U.S. Imposes New Sanctions on Sudan’s RSF Leader

The United States has announced new sanctions targeting Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the leader of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to the Treasury Department’s website on Tuesday.

The sanctions come amid ongoing conflict in Sudan, where clashes between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces have led to widespread instability and humanitarian concerns. The U.S. government aims to increase pressure on the RSF leadership to cease hostilities and engage in peaceful dialogue.

Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as “Hemedti,” has been a prominent figure in Sudan’s political landscape, especially following the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir in 2019. The RSF, under Dagalo’s command, has been involved in various internal conflicts, raising international concerns over human rights violations.

The new sanctions are part of U.S. efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. By targeting key leaders, the United States hopes to encourage a resolution to the ongoing violence that has displaced thousands of Sudanese people.

The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging all parties involved to prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians and to seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
