La Residents Return to Pacific Palisades After Fire Video Poster

LA Residents Return Home as Wildfire Death Toll Rises

Residents of Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles are cautiously returning to their neighborhood to survey the damage after devastating wildfires swept through the area. The death toll has climbed to 24, and officials expect that number to rise as specialized teams, including cadaver dogs, search through the rubble.

Firefighters continued their efforts on Sunday, January 12, to contain the inferno encircling downtown LA. However, the return of powerful winds threatens to undo the progress made in battling the flames.

Despite the risks, locals are making brief visits back to assess the destruction and begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.
