Bulgaria Approves New Cabinet Led by Rosen Zhelyazkov After Months of Deadlock

After more than two months of political uncertainty, Bulgaria’s National Assembly has approved a new coalition government led by Rosen Zhelyazkov. The decision marks a significant step toward restoring stability following the parliamentary elections held earlier this year.

Rosen Zhelyazkov, the nominee from the center-right GERB-UDF alliance, was endorsed by a majority of lawmakers on Thursday. His appointment comes amid hopes that the new government will address pressing issues such as economic recovery and political reform.

“Our priority is to unify the country and work toward the prosperity of all citizens,” Zhelyazkov stated during his address to parliament. “We are committed to transparency, democratic values, and collaboration across all sectors.”

The approval of the new cabinet ends a prolonged period of negotiations and political deadlock that followed the inconclusive election results. The impasse had raised concerns about Bulgaria’s ability to tackle challenges like corruption, unemployment, and the impacts of global events on its economy.

Many Bulgarians, especially the younger generation, are watching closely to see how the new leadership will shape the nation’s future. With a focus on modernization and engagement with international partners, there is a sense of cautious optimism among the populace.

The GERB-UDF coalition has indicated plans to implement policies aimed at improving education, healthcare, and technological innovation. As the new administration takes the helm, Bulgarians are hopeful that this marks the beginning of a more stable and prosperous era.
