Cristiano Ronaldo added another milestone to his legendary career by scoring his 920th goal, leading Al Nassr to a 3-1 victory over Al Fateh on Sunday at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The win propels Al Nassr to third place in the Saudi Pro League. Facing the league’s bottom club, Al Nassr dominated from the start. Ronaldo, who is approaching his 40th birthday in less than two weeks, initially found the net with a volley in the 37th minute. However, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review for offside.
Just four minutes later, Al Nassr broke the deadlock when Al Fateh’s defender Marwane Saadane inadvertently deflected Angelo’s cross into his own net, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the 57th minute, Al Nassr doubled their advantage. Angelo delivered a precise free-kick that Mohamed Simakan headed home, making it 2-0.
Al Fateh threatened a comeback in the 72nd minute when Mourad Batna capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Bento Krepski, reducing the deficit to 2-1 with a powerful strike.
But Ronaldo sealed the victory for Al Nassr in the 87th minute. Sadio Mané provided a perfect cross, and the Portuguese superstar made no mistake, scoring his 920th career goal and ensuring all three points for his team.
Despite the win, Al Nassr remains eight points behind league leaders Al Ittihad. With Ronaldo in fine form, they’ll be hoping to close that gap in the coming weeks.
