Colombians in Bogota welcomed the Chinese Spring Festival with vibrant celebrations over the weekend of January 25. The festivities, marking the beginning of the Lunar New Year, brought together locals and visitors to enjoy cultural performances, traditional Chinese cuisine, and colorful decorations.

The event was hosted by the Chinese Embassy and the Colombian and Chinese Chamber of Commerce, symbolizing the growing cultural ties between Colombia and China. Attendees experienced lion dances, lantern displays, and workshops on Chinese calligraphy and art, fostering a spirit of unity and cultural exchange.

“It’s amazing to see how our community is embracing different cultures,” said Maria Fernandez, a local resident who attended the festivities. “The Chinese New Year celebration adds a new dimension to our city’s cultural diversity.”

The celebration not only highlighted traditional Chinese customs but also provided an opportunity for Colombians to learn more about China’s rich heritage. Organizers hope that such events will continue to strengthen the bonds between the two nations and promote mutual understanding among their people.
