Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday that Ukraine will not participate in upcoming talks between the United States and Russia in Saudi Arabia. Speaking during a video briefing from the United Arab Emirates, where he was on a state visit, Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine was unaware of the planned discussions.
“Ukraine will not take part. Ukraine did not know anything about it,” Zelenskyy told reporters.
The talks are scheduled to take place later this week in Saudi Arabia. Zelenskyy also announced plans to visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, though details of his visit have not been disclosed.
The exclusion of Ukraine from these discussions comes amidst ongoing tensions following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The conflict has led to significant geopolitical shifts and has drawn international attention to the region.
