17 Injured as Delta Plane Flips During Windy Landing in Toronto

A Delta Air Lines flight flipped upside down upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, injuring 17 of the 80 people on board, according to airport president Deborah Flint.

The incident happened amid strong winds following a snowstorm, making landing conditions challenging. Three people, including a child, suffered critical injuries.

Delta confirmed that the aircraft involved was a CRJ900 operated by its Endeavor Air subsidiary. The plane carried 76 passengers and four crew members. “Initial reports indicate there are no fatalities and 18 customers with injuries have been transported to area hospitals,” Delta stated on X.

The CRJ900, built by Canada’s Bombardier, can seat up to 90 people. The flight had originated from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Emergency services responded promptly, providing aid to the injured passengers. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and authorities are examining weather conditions and potential mechanical issues.

Flight operations at the airport were temporarily halted but have since resumed. Travelers are advised to check with airlines for any delays.
