Uae Tells Rubio It Rejects Displacement of Palestinians

UAE Rejects Displacement of Palestinians in Talks with U.S. Secretary of State

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has affirmed his country’s rejection of any proposals to displace Palestinians from their homeland. In a meeting on Wednesday with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Abu Dhabi, the UAE leader emphasized the importance of linking the reconstruction of Gaza to a path leading to a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored that the displacement of Palestinians would not contribute to peace and stability in the region. Instead, he called for intensified diplomatic efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to revive peace talks aimed at achieving a two-state solution.

The UAE’s stance is significant as it is one of the Arab countries that have normalized relations with Israel in recent years. The nation has also played an active role in financing reconstruction efforts in Gaza following previous conflicts.

Arab leaders, including those from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar, are expected to convene in the coming weeks to discuss collaborative efforts to address the ongoing conflict. These discussions aim to develop alternatives that prioritize the rights and well-being of Palestinians while seeking a peaceful resolution to the long-standing conflict.

The international community is closely watching as regional diplomacy intensifies, hoping for a breakthrough that could end the cycle of violence and pave the way for lasting peace in the Middle East.
