Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Thursday that he had a “productive meeting” with a U.S. envoy in Kyiv, focusing on the ongoing conflict and steps toward securing peace.
“We had a detailed conversation about the situation on the battlefield, the return of our prisoners of war, and effective security guarantees,” Zelenskyy shared on social media platform X.
The president expressed gratitude to the United States for its assistance and bipartisan support. He also emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to sign “a strong, effective investment and security agreement” with U.S. leadership.
“We have proposed the fastest and most constructive way to achieve results,” Zelenskyy noted, highlighting the urgency of bringing lasting peace to the region.
While specifics of the meeting were not disclosed, Ukrainian presidential spokesperson Serhii Nikiforov mentioned that a joint press conference did not take place at the request of the U.S. side.
Earlier in the day, the U.S. envoy also met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to discuss pathways toward a “comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.” Following their discussion, Sybiha reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving peace through strength and shared Kyiv’s vision for the necessary steps ahead.
