Russia Against Any European Peacekeepers in Ukraine Lukashenko Says

Russia Opposes European Peacekeepers in Ukraine, Says Belarus Leader

Minsk, Belarus – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that Russia is firmly against the deployment of European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. In an interview on Thursday with American blogger Mario Nawfal, Lukashenko emphasized that Russia would never consent to such a move.

“Russia will never agree to EU peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. At least, this is Russia’s position today,” Lukashenko stated. He pointed out that the current leadership of the European Union, especially Germany and France, is adopting a highly aggressive stance.

Reports have emerged that a group of European countries is formulating a plan to send troops to Ukraine to enforce any future peace agreement with Russia. Britain and France are reportedly leading this initiative, although specific details remain limited. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer mentioned that Britain would “play our part” in any peacekeeping role but noted that participation would require support from the United States.

During his interview, Lukashenko also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed his willingness to engage in negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine, including direct talks with Ukrainian officials. “No one will resolve Ukraine’s issues without Ukraine,” the Belarusian president stressed.

Addressing a potential deal between the United States and Ukraine on rare earth metals, Lukashenko commented that such an agreement might be concerning for Russia if it extends beyond economic relations. “This deal may be alarming for Russia and most likely is alarming,” he said.
