Four Takeaways As Wang Stresses Chinas Stabilizing Role in the World

Wang Yi: China Offers Stability in an Uncertain World

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized China’s role as a source of stability in an uncertain world during a press conference in Beijing. Addressing a range of global issues, Wang outlined China’s stance on international relations, the Global South, and its approach to global peace.

China as a ‘Stabilizing Force’

Wang Yi highlighted China’s commitment to providing certainty in a turbulent world. He stressed that China is a just and righteous force for global peace and stability, upholding true multilateralism and the principles of the UN Charter. Wang emphasized that China will not be swayed by external pressures or threats and will continue to share its development opportunities with other nations.

China-U.S. Relations

Addressing questions about China-U.S. ties, Wang underscored the importance of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. He contrasted China’s approach to global affairs with that of the United States, advocating against power politics and hegemony. Wang stated that no country should attempt to suppress China while expecting good relations, emphasizing that ‘might is right’ does not contribute to a stable world.

The Global South’s Emerging Role

Wang noted the growing influence of the Global South, which now accounts for 40% of the world economy. He called for unity among these nations, urging them to speak with one voice and increase their representation in global governance. China, he said, will continue to stand with the Global South, fostering partnerships based on equality and cooperation.

Pursuing Peaceful Resolutions

On international conflicts, Wang reiterated China’s objective and impartial stance. Regarding the Ukraine crisis, he emphasized that there is ‘no winner in conflict, and no loser in peace,’ advocating for peaceful negotiations. Concerning Gaza, Wang stressed that it is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory and called for efforts toward a sustainable ceasefire and reconstruction.

Wang Yi’s press conference underscored China’s vision of a world where nations collaborate to address global challenges, emphasizing stability, mutual respect, and shared development.
