Moscow Washington Yet to Begin Tackling Problems in Ties Says Lavrov

Lavrov: Russia and US Yet to Begin Mending Relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Monday that Moscow and Washington have not yet started working on resolving the issues plaguing their bilateral relations. Speaking in an interview, Lavrov noted that while it’s too early to draw definitive conclusions from the statements of the new U.S. administration, there are some promising signs.

“We haven’t seen any concrete steps to address the existing problems between our two countries,” Lavrov said. “However, recent remarks from U.S. officials give us a reason to be cautiously optimistic.”

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia and the United States are not scheduled to hold talks in Saudi Arabia this week. Delegations from both nations previously met in Riyadh on February 18 and in Istanbul, Türkiye, on February 27 to discuss bilateral ties and the crisis in Ukraine.

The strained relationship between Moscow and Washington has been a focal point in international diplomacy. Many around the world are watching closely to see if these global powers will take steps toward improving dialogue and cooperation.
