Trump Says very Much on Track After Phone Call with Zelenskyy

Trump and Zelenskyy Discuss Partial Ceasefire: ‘We Are Very Much on Track’

Washington, D.C. — Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he had a “very good” phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding a partial ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. “We are very much on track,” Trump said on social media, emphasizing the progress made in the discussions.

The conversation with Zelenskyy came a day after Trump’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they agreed that peace in Ukraine “will begin with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire.” Trump noted that “much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs.”

Trump stated that the phone call with Zelenskyy lasted approximately one hour, and more details “will be put out shortly.” The former president expressed optimism about the direction of the peace efforts.

In response, President Zelenskyy emphasized the necessity of Ukraine’s direct involvement in any peace negotiations. “Without Ukraine’s involvement, I believe reaching an agreement is futile,” he said. “We need to understand what the conversation is about.” Zelenskyy reaffirmed his country’s support for proposals leading to a lasting and just peace.

Meanwhile, multiple media outlets reported that Ukraine and Russia exchanged aerial assaults overnight, underscoring the urgency of reaching a ceasefire agreement.
