China Qualify for Womens Curling Competition at 2026 Winter Olympics

China Clinches Bronze and 2026 Olympic Spot at Women’s Curling Championship

China’s women’s curling team secured a historic bronze medal at the World Women’s Curling Championship in Uijeongbu, South Korea, on Sunday, earning a place at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Facing the tournament hosts, China triumphed with a 9-4 victory, marking their first podium finish at the World Championships in 14 years. The match was tightly contested in the early ends, with both teams level at 2-2 after five ends. South Korea pulled ahead in the sixth end, adding two points, but China quickly responded with two of their own in the seventh end, tying the game once again.

From the seventh end onward, the Chinese team showcased exceptional defense, thwarting all scoring attempts by the South Korean rink. They capitalized on opportunities, stealing five points over the final three ends to seal the win.

This achievement is particularly significant as all four Chinese curlers reached the World Championship semifinals for the first time. Despite a semifinal loss to Switzerland, the team demonstrated resilience and determination to secure the bronze medal.

Later on Sunday, Switzerland and Canada were set to compete for the championship title.
