Russia’s Putin and UAE President Discuss Peace Efforts and Detainee Swap

Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan connected via phone on Monday to discuss crucial international matters, the Kremlin reported. Putin took the opportunity to thank the UAE for its role in mediating a recent detainee exchange between Russia and Ukraine, a gesture that could signal a step toward easing tensions.

The conversation didn’t stop there. The two leaders delved into the current state of dialogue between Russia and the United States, exploring potential pathways to peacefully resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. They emphasized the importance of normalizing ties between Moscow and Washington, which could have significant implications for global diplomacy.

Energy cooperation was also on the agenda. Putin and Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed their commitment to close collaboration within the “OPEC plus” alliance, underlining the critical role of oil-producing nations in stabilizing global energy markets.
