Real Madrid Close to Signing Trent Alexander arnold on a Free Transfer

Real Madrid Eyeing Trent Alexander-Arnold for Summer Transfer

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool’s star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, with plans to secure him on a free transfer once his contract expires this summer. The Spanish giants are keen to bolster their defense and see the 25-year-old English international as a prime target.

Alexander-Arnold has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool since breaking into the first team in July 2016. With 349 appearances, 22 goals, and 87 assists, he’s established himself as one of Europe’s elite full-backs. His contributions were instrumental in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League victory in the 2018-19 season and their historic Premier League title the following year.

Despite an offer from Real Madrid in December, Liverpool turned down the bid, determined to retain their homegrown talent. However, contract extension talks between the club and Alexander-Arnold have reportedly stalled, allowing him to negotiate with other clubs since the start of the year.

Should Alexander-Arnold make the move to Madrid, he would join a distinguished list of English players who’ve represented Los Blancos, including legends like David Beckham, Steve McManaman, Michael Owen, and his current national teammate Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool may face a challenging summer ahead, with the potential departures of key players. Alongside Alexander-Arnold, contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are set to expire after the 2024-25 season. Despite currently leading the Premier League with a 12-point cushion after 29 games under manager Arne Slot, the club may need to consider a significant rebuild to maintain their dominance.
