Chinese skiers Liu Mengting and Han Linshan have secured their spots in the women’s big air freeski final at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland. The qualifications took place on Wednesday, where a total of four athletes from the Chinese mainland competed for a place in the final.
Liu delivered an impressive performance, finishing fourth with a score of 166.25 points. Han also showcased her skills, earning eighth place with 158.75 points. Both athletes are set to compete in the final on Thursday, aiming for the top podium spots.
Their teammates, Yang Ruyi and Xiong Wenhui, put up a strong fight but finished 12th and 23rd respectively, missing out on the final. Meanwhile, Xiong Shirui, the gold medalist from the 2025 Asian Winter Games in women’s big air snowboard, faced tough competition. She scored 52.75 points in her first run and improved in the subsequent attempts, surpassing 60 points in both. Ultimately, Xiong ranked 14th with a total of 130.25 points.
Despite not advancing to the final, Xiong expressed satisfaction with her performance, highlighting the experience gained at the World Championships.
