Over 50% of Ukrainians Doubt Trump’s Peace Plan, Fear Unjust End to Conflict

A recent poll has revealed that more than half of Ukrainians are skeptical about U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to bring peace to their country. Many fear that his approach could lead to an unfair resolution in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The survey, conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) between March 12 and 22, involved 1,326 participants from Ukrainian-held territories. The findings show that 32% of respondents expect “rather an unjust peace, although with the fulfillment of some of Ukraine’s demands,” while 22% anticipate a “totally unjust peace.”

Only 3% believe that President Trump can facilitate a just peace, with 15% expecting “a rather just peace, although with some concessions to Russia.”

These numbers indicate a growing pessimism since Trump took office in January. In a previous poll conducted in December, 20% of Ukrainians expected a “rather unjust peace,” and 11% foresaw a “totally unjust” outcome.

“Even before now, there was some disappointment with the U.S. actions in Ukraine, and the Trump administration is decisively cementing the disapproval,” said Anton Hrushetskyi, executive director of KIIS, in a statement.

The poll also found that 67% of Ukrainians believe the U.S. is growing tired of the conflict and is pressuring Ukraine to make concessions.

President Trump has promised to bring a swift end to the three-year-old war, but his actions have raised concerns. After taking office, he once blamed Kyiv for the ongoing conflict and temporarily suspended military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

The growing skepticism among Ukrainians highlights the complexities of international efforts to resolve the conflict and the importance of a fair and just peace agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties involved.
