16 Killed in Gaza Strike on UN Clinic, Says Civil Defense

Gaza City, October 25, 2023 — At least 16 people, including nine children, were killed in a strike on a United Nations clinic in the Jabalia refugee camp, Gaza’s civil defense agency reported on Wednesday.

Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the civil defense, stated that dozens more were wounded in the incident. “The strike targeted a UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) building housing a medical clinic in Jabalia refugee camp,” Bassal said.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has not yet issued a statement regarding the reported strike. There has been no immediate response from Israeli authorities.

Jabalia refugee camp, one of the most densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip, has been heavily impacted by recent escalations. Residents face growing humanitarian concerns, including shortages of medical supplies and essential services.

International organizations have called for urgent measures to protect civilians and adhere to humanitarian laws. The situation remains tense as the global community watches developments closely.
