Chinese table tennis players continued their strong performances at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions in Incheon, South Korea. On Friday, four more players from China advanced to the men’s and women’s quarterfinals, showcasing their dominance in the sport.
Top-seeded Wang Yidi emerged victorious in a thrilling all-Chinese women’s singles match against Qian Tianyi, winning in five games: 11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 6-11, 15-13. Despite trailing 3-0 in the final game, Wang adjusted her strategy, leveling the score at 4-4. The intense battle continued, with the players tied at 10-10, before Wang ultimately secured her place in the next round. She is set to face South Korea’s Shin Yu-bin in the quarterfinals.
China’s fifth seed, Kuai Man, defeated South Korea’s Kim Na-yeong 11-7, 12-14, 11-7, 11-5 to reach the last eight. However, Kuai’s journey ended in the semifinals on Saturday, where she was swept by Japan’s Miwa Harimoto.
Second seed Chen Xingtong of China cruised past local player Joo Cheon-hui with straight sets of 11-8, 11-9, 11-8. Chen will face Japan’s seventh seed Mima Ito in the quarterfinals, vying for a spot in the semifinals.
In the men’s competition, China’s sixth seed Lin Gaoyuan overcame Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov with scores of 11-7, 12-10, 12-14, 11-3 in the quarterfinals. Lin’s next challenge will be against South Korean veteran Lee Sang-su.
The performances of the Chinese players highlight their continued excellence in table tennis on the international stage. Fans eagerly await the upcoming matches to see if they can secure the championship titles.
