Manchester United and Manchester City played out a lackluster 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, leaving fans disappointed in a typically fiery Manchester Derby.
With City’s top scorer Erling Haaland sidelined due to injury, Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to find a breakthrough. The result leaves City in fifth place in the Premier League table with 52 points, while United remain 13th with 38 points.
“Tight game. They had chances. We had chances as well,” Guardiola said after the match. “The only problem is we moved too much with the ball. We had to be in the right position, and we didn’t do that.”
The first half offered few clear-cut opportunities, as both teams lacked creativity in the final third. The tempo increased after the interval when City’s midfielder Kevin De Bruyne unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards, forcing United goalkeeper Andre Onana into a spectacular save.
United’s best chance came midway through the second half when Marcus Rashford turned swiftly and struck a half-volley that prompted an impressive two-handed save from City keeper Ederson.
The clean sheet was a welcome boost for United, marking their first at Old Trafford since a 4-0 victory over Everton on December 1, 2022.
This stalemate contrasts sharply with the thrilling encounter earlier in the season, when United stunned the champions with a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium, courtesy of late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
