Chinese teenager Guo Muye made a splash at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Somabay, Egypt, on Friday by claiming the gold medal in the men’s solo technical event.
The 16-year-old prodigy, one of the youngest competitors in the pool, showcased his exceptional talent with a mesmerizing “Wizard” themed routine. Performing under the fading sunlight, Guo earned a combined score of 224.5450 points, topping the standings and securing his first senior solo crown.
Already a three-time world junior champion, Guo has long been identified as a potential star in artistic swimming. His victory in Egypt marks a significant improvement from his fourth-place finish at this year’s first World Cup stop in France, where he scored 14 points fewer.
