China’s rising star Guo Muye, just 16 years old, has claimed his second gold medal at the Artistic Swimming World Cup in Somabay, Egypt. On Sunday, he dazzled the judges in the men’s solo free final with a captivating performance.
Performing to the piece “Setting out on a Campaign,” Guo showcased exceptional artistry and execution, earning an impressive overall score of 196.7401 points. This victory follows his earlier triumph in the men’s solo technical final, marking a stellar week for the young athlete.
“I had a training session with my teammates early in the morning,” Guo said after his win. “I thought I was in good form, but I felt a bit worried because I was very tired from the previous day’s competition. Performing ‘Setting out on a Campaign’ was challenging, especially executing the movements artistically. I feel like I gave up seven points because I didn’t do as well on artistic expression.”
Italy’s Giorgio Minisini secured the silver medal with a score of 48.6500 points, while Colombia’s Gustavo Sanchez, a three-time World Championships medalist, took bronze to complete the podium.
