Ukraine’s parliament has voted to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days as the conflict with Russia continues. This move means the measures will remain in place from May 9 to August 6.
Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak shared on Telegram that 357 lawmakers supported the extension of martial law, while 346 backed the general mobilization. Both votes surpassed the required 226-vote threshold for approval.
Ukraine first imposed martial law and declared nationwide mobilization in February 2022, following the outbreak of hostilities with Russia. Since then, these measures have been repeatedly extended to strengthen the country’s defense.
The ongoing conflict has significantly impacted daily life in Ukraine, with many young people facing challenges related to education and employment. The extension highlights the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty amid ongoing tensions.
