Yemen’s Houthi movement announced on Friday that it has launched missile attacks targeting two U.S. aircraft carriers and a site near Israel’s main airport, following deadly American strikes in Yemen that reportedly killed at least 74 people.
The U.S. strikes hit a fuel port in Yemen, marking the deadliest American action in the country in over a year, according to statements from the Houthis.
“The American military buildup and continued aggression against our country will only lead to more counter-attacks, clashes, and confrontations,” said Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree during a press conference in the capital, Sanaa.
The Houthi group, which controls large parts of Yemen, has been engaged in an ongoing conflict with a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States. The latest escalation raises concerns about broader regional implications amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
There has been no immediate confirmation from the U.S. military regarding the reported attacks on its vessels, nor from Israeli authorities about the alleged strike near its main airport.
The situation remains volatile as both sides exchange accusations and warnings, fueling fears of further escalation in a region already fraught with conflict.
